Web Technology

Monday – Register and Set up Accounts on www.edx.org.  We will register for HTML5 and CSS Fundamentals.  We will begin by completing the about W3C and the Web section.  This will introduce what HTML5 and CSS are as well as establish how grading, discussions, quizzes, etc. will be handled.

Tuesday – Begin Module 1: My First Webpage.  In this module, students will learn to use HTML coding to create a simple but functional website.  This will establish the foundation for the rest of this module as well as the modules that follow.

Monday February 5th: Students will do Lesson 10 from their Adobe Dreamweaver.  The lesson is Called “Working with Images”  In this lesson, students will learn how to work with images to include them in their webpages in the following ways:

  • Insert an image into a webpage
  • Use Photoshop Smart Objects
  • Copy and paste and image from Photoshop
  • Make images responsive to different device and screen sizes
  • Use tools in Dreamweaver to resize, crop, and resample web-compatible images

Course Overview: This course provides comprehensive information on 5 separate areas of arts and communication.  Each of the 5 units will cover a specific area.

  • Unit 1: Graphic Design
  • Unit 2: Photo Editing
  • Unit 3: Animation
  • Unit 4: Video Editing
  • Unit 5: Video Game Design

 

Materials:

  • Flash Drive

 

Grading Policy: Grades will be broken down into these categories-

  • Daily Grades and Quizzes – 40%
  • Tests and Projects – 60%

There will be at minimum 10 Daily Grades/Quizzes and 2 Tests/Projects per 9 week grading period.  Grades will be completed and returned within 1 week of assignment completion.

 

Make up Work/Absences: We will follow the Student Handbook Rules here.  For each day you are absent from class, you will have that many days to complete any missing assignments.

 

Retests: There will be no retests, however, you will be giving the option of completed an extra assignment to bring any failing test grade up to a 70.
